2021 Lenten Meditations – Good Friday, April 2nd
Philippians 2: 5-8
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Sacrifice: It is to voluntarily give up something that one owns or something to which one is entitled.
I believe that human beings act with an instinct for conservation when something endangers OUR RIGHTS or PRIVILEGES. And we defend it tooth and nail. We are lions when faced with something that endangers our well-being and especially our own life or that of our loved ones.
But, Christ Jesus willingly AGREED TO SACRIFICE all his privileges, power, divinity, rank, and honor so that you, me, all of us, would receive those rights, privileges, and power. That is, to be called by God the Father: HIS SONS AND DAUGHTERS.
But the price was great, it was not just living among mortals, but he sacrificed and gave his life so that we would receive all that he had before, in eternity. And the most valuable thing is that he did it with love, to show HOW MUCH GOD THE FATHER LOVES US.
How beautiful it is to see our girls and young women when they have been baptized and receive the blessing of being called DAUGHTERS OF GOD. And it is more beautiful to see how, thanks to the sacrifice, work, and above all the love and prayer of each godfather and godmother, each volunteer, these girls, who never had the rights or privileges of daughters, now have a different destiny.
The truth is, that the sacrifice of Jesus not only allowed us to receive privileges and rights, it also gave us the willpower and strength to persevere for the 65+ girls in our care. These Daughters of God, from whom the injustice of the world took away so much, are restored to enjoy these gifts to the fullest, through the sacrificial love of so many people like you.
This Lenten season, I invite you to give thanks to God the Father for your privileges and rights received through Jesus Christ and spread the love God the Father bestows on each of us.

Filipenses 2: 5-8
Cristo Jesús,
6 el cual:
Aunque existía con el mismo ser de Dios,
no se aferró a su igualdad con él,
7 sino que renunció a lo que era suyo
y tomó naturaleza de siervo.
Haciéndose como todos los hombres
y presentándose como un hombre cualquiera,
8 se humilló a sí mismo,
haciéndose obediente hasta la muerte,
hasta la muerte en la cruz.
RENUNCIAR: Es abandonar voluntariamente una cosa que se posee o algo a lo que se tiene derecho.
Creo que los seres humanos actuamos con instinto de conservación cuando algo pone en peligro NUESTROS DERECHOS o PRIVILEGIOS. Y lo defendemos a capa y espada. Somos leones ante algo que ponga en peligro nuestro bienestar y sobre todo nuestra propia vida o la de nuestros seres queridos.
Pero, Cristo Jesús voluntariamente ACEPTÓ RENUNCIAR a todos sus privilegios, poder, divinidad, rango y honor para que tú, yo, todos nosotros, recibiéramos esos derechos, privilegio y poder. O sea, ser llamados por Dios Padre: SUS HIJOS E HIJAS.
Pero el precio fue grande, no fue solo vivir como uno más, sino que se sacrificó y dio su vida para que recibiéramos todo eso mismo que él tenía antes en la eternidad. Y lo más valioso es que lo hizo con amor, para mostrar CUÁNTO NOS AMA DIOS PADRE.
Qué lindo es ver a nuestras niñas y jóvenes cuando han sido bautizadas y reciben el ser llamadas HIJAS DE DIOS. Y es más lindo ver cómo ellas que nunca tuvieron derechos o privilegios de hijas, gracias al sacrificio, el trabajo y sobre todo el amor y la oración de cada padrino y madrina, cada voluntario ha hecho posible que ellas tengan un destino diferente. La verdad que la renuncia de Jesús, permitió no solo recibir privilegios y derechos, también nos permitió luchar porque nuestras niñas a quienes la injusticia les arrebató esos derechos y privilegios, ahora lo disfruten a plenitud.
En esta Cuaresma da gracias a Dios Padre por tus privilegios y derechos recibidos por medio de Cristo Jesús.
