Heidy's Story
A Home That Walked with Her
Heidy Benítez arrived at Our Little Roses in 2006 as a one-year-old, brought to us by the Instituto Hondureño de la Niñez y la Familia (IHNFA), the former Honduran governmental agency responsible for child welfare. Too young to understand what lay ahead, she became part of a family that would walk with her through childhood, adolescence, and into young adulthood. Over 18 years in our Residence, followed by two years of postgraduate studies, Heidy’s life was shaped by consistency, care, and opportunity.
Child Protection from Day One
Our Little Roses provided the safety, stability, and basic necessities that every child deserves, giving Heidy a foundation of trust and belonging from infancy.
Educational Support That Grows with Her
From early childhood learning through bilingual education and a baccalaureate degree at Holy Family Bilingual School, Heidy received education assistance tailored to each stage of her life.
Skills Training for Long-Term Wellbeing
Age-appropriate life skills courses, ESL and R.E.S.T. programs, and hands-on responsibilities in daily residence life prepared Heidy for independence and service.

Our Little Roses is a charitable organization rooted in the belief that every girl deserves safety, education, and the chance to build a life on her own terms. The programs below are the ones that shaped Heidy’s journey, and they continue to shape the lives of every girl in our care today.
A Safe Residence and Basic Necessities
Every child beneficiary at Our Little Roses receives shelter, nutritious meals, clothing, and the daily care that creates stability. For Heidy, this home was the constant that carried her through every stage of growth.
Educational Aid and Support
From kindergarten through a baccalaureate degree at Holy Family Bilingual School, education sponsorships provide a bilingual curriculum, tutoring, and the academic guidance that helps each girl reach her potential.
Medical and Dental Care
Comprehensive health care, including medical and dental care on campus, ensures that each sponsored child grows up healthy and strong. This access was part of Heidy's daily life for two decades.
Age-Appropriate Life Skills Courses
Skills training in nutrition, household management, leadership, and service prepares girls for the economic opportunities and responsibilities of independent adulthood. For Heidy, these lessons began in the kitchen and led all the way to a nursing career.
